Hayward ruled out for several weeks
September 13, 2000

Former Welsh international Byron Hayward has become the latest casualty at injury-hit Gloucester.

Hayward dislocated his shoulder joint when he fell awkwardly against Bath and could be out for up to two months.

The stand-off had not realised during the game that his injury was so serious.

"I feel a bit jinxed at the moment," said Hayward, whose poor first half kicking ultimately cost Gloucester victory over Bath. He failed with four of his five shots at goal.

"They considered surgery to pin the bone but the recovery time for that would have been roughly the same as not having it pinned.

"It could take six to eight weeks but hopefully it will be only four because I have always healed very quickly in the past."
