Lions tour plans finalised

Next year's eagerly awaited British Lions tour to Australia will last six weeks and comprise a total of 10 matches - including three Test matches against the world champions.

The Lions will leave on June 2 and will play six matches before the first Test, which will be played at the Gabba in Brisbane on June 30.

The last midweek fixture against ACT Brumbies at Canberra will precede the second Test in Melbourne on July 7.

The Lions will then have a clear week before they face the Wallabies in the final Test at Sydney's Stadium Australia on July 14.

Lions manager Donal Lenihan said: "After constructive negotiations with the ARU, we are now happy with the final agreed schedule.

"Most of the management issues have been settled and we can now finalise the details of our plans."

Itinerary: June 2 - depart. June 9 v Western Australia (Subiaco Stadium, Perth). June 12 - v Queensland President's XV (TBC). June 16 v Queensland Reds (Brisbane, TBC). June 19 v Australia A (North Power Stadium, Gosford). June 23 v NSW Waratahs (Sydney). June 26 v NSW Country (Coffs Harbour International Stadium). June 30 v Australia, First Test, (Brisbane). July 3 v ACT Brumbies (Canberra). July 7 v Australia, Second Test (Melbourne, TBC). July 14 v Australia, Third Test (Sydney).
