Stanley not expecting to remain a Tiger

Leicester Tigers' Canadian wing Winston Stanley could be forced out of Welford Road if the English champions sign Josh Kronfeld and Rod Kafer.

The Heineken Cup finalists have yet to confirm that the Kiwi and Aussie are on their way to the Zurich Premiership but Stanley says he is assuming they will.

He told the Leicester Mercury that although Dean Richards was pleased with the big wingers' performances this season he could not offer him a contract if he was ineligible.

The arrival of Kronfeld and Kafer would fill all of Leicester's overseas places and leave Stanley out in the cold.

"I don't like to get my hopes up and have them dashed. I'd rather be pessimistic and, if something works out, great," he said.

Stanley, who joined Leicester when compatriot Dave Lougheed left last season, says he hopes to stay in the Premiership.

He could be ending his first season in the English league in some style as he is the current incumbent of a first team slot on the wing ahead of the injured Freddy Tuilagi as the Heineken Cup final against Stade Francais approaches.
