French reqest for date change refused

The Six Nations Committee has refused a request from the French to shorten the 2002 Lloyds TSB Six Nations calendar.

The French had requested a change of date for the England France clash from the French Sport Minister Marie-George Buffet.

But the committee said that it was too late to change dates that had been set for some time and were already known to broadcasters and sponsors.
