Baxendell set to leave Sale

Jos Baxendell may have played his last game for Sale.

The former England centre has been in protracted contract talks with the club this summer.

But it now looks increasingly likely that the 29-year-old will leave Heywood Road.

His agent, Dave Grahame, said: "We are still talking to Sale but it looks increasingly likely that Jos will end up playing elsewhere next season.

"We are currently in discussion with three Premiership clubs, as well as a number of clubs in France and Italy."

Baxendell, a key member of the Sale side that regained Premiership status in 1994, went on to play for England during the tour to the South Hemisphere three years ago.
