Mayer signs for Leeds

Jamie Mayer, the Scotland centre, has signed a two-year contract with Zurich Premiership newboys Leeds Tykes.

It had looked at one time that the 24-year-old would be signing on for Bristol Shoguns before the offer was withdrawn.

Mayer, capped eight times for Scotland, said: "Leeds have a marvellous set-up at Headingley that will help them in their driver to establish themselves in the Premiership at the first atempt."
