Lloyd sidelined until December

Leicester Tigers director of rugby Dean Richards has been hit by the news that England centre Leon Lloyd will be ruled out until Decemeber with his shoulder injury.

Lloyd was injured while on tour with England in North America this summer and will now undergo surgery that will mean he misses the first five months of the season.

"It's a blow," admitted Richards. "It's going to be difficult without Leon, who had a great second half to the season."

Richards has also lost Pat Howard, who has returned to Australia, but his midfield problems will be eased by the arrival of Wallabies centre Rod Kafer for the new season.
