Back back for Test two
July 5, 2001

The Lions have made one change for Saturday's second Test against Australia in Melbourne.

Leicester and England flanker Neil Back, who missed the first Test victory because of a rib problem, returns to the back row instead of his Tigers team-mate Martin Corry.

Richard Hill accommodates Back by switching from openside flanker to blindside, with the unlucky Corry dropping down to the bench.

"I tore a few fibres in a muscle which attaches to the ribs. It wasn't a rib cartilage problem, but if I had tried to play, then I could have missed two or three games," he said.

"It is vital to win the second Test as I know from South Africa in 1997," he added.

"That game (the second Test in Durban) was the biggest match I have ever been involved in. We know that the Australians will be really up for it on Saturday, but we have got a fantastic squad."

There are two changes among the substitutes who were on duty in Brisbane, Corry replacing the suspended Colin Charvis and England's Dorian West preferred to Gordon Bulloch.

Full-back Matt Perry, who has hardly trained all week because of a groin muscle injury, is named in the side, meaning that Iain Balshaw continues among the substitutes.

If the Lions win under the closed roof at Melbourne's Colonial Stadium then they will clinch an unassailable 2-0 series lead.

The third and final Test takes place at Sydney's Stadium Australia on Saturday week.
