White vows to put troubles behind him

England prop Julian White has vowed to put his troubles behind him and inspire Bristol in their forthcoming Zurich Premiership campaign.

Earlier this month White was ordered to pay around £28,000 in costs to the Premiership outfit after he failed in his bid to be released from a three-year contract.

Last year while still at Saracens, White agreed the contract with Bristol and it was due to commence this summer. However, he changed his mind and told the club in May that he no longer wished to join them.

White consulted his legal adviser over a possible appeal after losing the court battle, but now appears to have his heart set on doing his best for the Shoguns.

"I'm not going to discuss what's been going on other than to say what's happened has happened," he said.

"It's regrettable, but as far as I'm concerned it's now behind me and I'm going to concentrate on doing my very best for the Shoguns."

White hinted he will be ready for the first match of the new season, at home to Sale on September 2.

"I had a short break after the England tour to north America, but over the last four weeks I've been training down at Okehampton with the club I used to play for.

"I've also been running and doing some weights, and last week I was at Twickenham training with people from the England set-up.

"I haven't done a proper pre-season, and training on your own you don't push yourself as hard as if there's someone shouting at you, but I'm feeling good and I reckon I'll be back to full fitness pretty quickly."

White revealed: "I am really looking forward to training with the team on Monday, and I'll just keep my head down and do my work, get to know the other lads and the moves. My first priority will be to get into the Bristol side.

"They've got a strong front row that I've played against before. I don't expect to walk into the team, I've got to earn my place and I'll be aiming to do just that.

"If I can put in some good performances and more chances come to play for England then well and good, but the Premiership has to be what I focus on in the first place."
