Wasps director of rugby Nigel Melville has been appointed part-time coach of the England Under-21s.

Melville worked with the under-21s last season and Chris Spice, performance director for the Rugby Football Union, said: "I'm delighted that Nigel has accepted the position.

"His previous experience of coaching the England Under-21 side will be invaluable and I know he's looking forward to a good campaign for the under-21 players in the spring."

Melville added: "I really enjoyed working with the England Under-21 squad last season and I'm sure that there will be a number of players who will not only give a good account of themselves during the new campaign but who will also be challenging for senior squad in the future."
