Woodward calls up two new faces
January 10, 2002

England manager Clive Woodward has named two new faces in his training squad their 2002 Lloyds TSB Six Nations campaign that begins against Scotland at Murrayfield on February 2.

Saracens' Nick Walshe has been drafted in to replace the injured Matt Dawson and to act as cover for Austin Healey.

And London Irish's England Under-21 international back row forward Declan Danaher has been rewarded for an impressive season so far with a chance to impress Woodward.

Healey has been drafted into the 30-man squad despite facing a possible suspension which could rule him of the game.

The Leicester scrum-half has already been fined £1,000 and suspended for two weeks by his club for allegedly kicking an opponent in a match against Sale but was expected to face further sanctions when he appeared before a Rugby Football Union tribunal on Thursday.

If found guilty of the offence the standard punishment is a six-week suspension, meaning he would miss the Six Nations opener at Murrayfield.

Woodward said: "I am delighted to include the young London Irish player Declan Danaher in the first-team squad of 30. He's had an outstanding season so far for Irish and is a real talent.

"I hope he will take the opportunity of learning all he can from the more experienced players."
