Stewart receives 'severe reprimand' from RFU
January 10, 2002

Northampton's Scottish international prop Matt Stewart received a "severe reprimand" after pleading guilty to kneeing and punching an opponent in the Saints' match with London Irish last month.

Stewart, Northampton's tight-head prop, was also ordered to pay costs of £200 after the Rugby Football Union disciplinary panel accepted he had been provoked.

It leaves Stewart clear to play in Scotland's opening Lloyds TSB Six Nations match with England on February 2.
