Moody up for yet another award
May 8, 2002

Leicester star Lewis Moody is up for another top honour after being nominated for the Zurich Young Player of the Season award.

This latest honour follows his nominations for players' player of the year and young player of the year in the Professional Rugby Players' Computacenter Awards.

Elsewhere, Sale's Jason Robinson, who has enjoyed widespread acclaim since his high-profile switch from rugby league and is now a key member of Clive Woodward's England World Cup plans, has been nominated for the Zurich Player of the Year. He also is up for a PRA award.

Robinson is one of three players listed, alongside London Irish skipper Ryan Strudwick and Leicester lock Ben Kay, who has also forced his way into Woodward's side this season.

Alongside Moody in the young player category are Sale fly-half Charlie Hodgson and Gloucester's promising centre Jamie Forrester.

Former South African international Brendan Venter steered the Exiles to their recent Powergen Cup triumph and vies for the overseas award with Leicester's Australian recruit Rod Kafer and Gloucester's prolific fly-half Ludovic Mercier.

Venter is also named alongside Exiles director of rugby Conor O'Shea in the coaching category, although the pair face stiff competition from Sale's Jim Mallinder and Dean Richards, who looks repeat last season's memorable triple trophy triumph at Welford Road.

The winners will be announced in London on May 20.
