Concerns over Moseley
June 25, 2002

National League Division 1 club Moseley have been asked to give assurances to the league officials that they will be able to honour their fixtures next season.

Geoff Cooke, the chief executive of the league, said that the assurances were needed by the beginning of July. "We are keeping an eye on the situation. No one wants such a famous club to go out of existence and we'll do everything we can to help Moseley," he told the Daily Telegraph.

The Birmingham-based club are reported to owe more than £200,000 and are likely to ask creditors to approve a voluntary arrangement. Supporters are struggling to put together a rescue package, prompting speculation that Firoz Kassam, the owner of Oxford United, will mount a second attempt to buy the club.
