Mallinder looking for improvement
September 6, 2002

The Sharks will travel to Gloucester on Saturday with an unchanged squad following last weekend's victory
over Northampton Saints.

Coach Jim Mallinder said: "The important thing last weekend was to get a win. We got that but weren't convincing in our performance and know
we really need to take a step up in all aspects of our play if we are going to have any chance of getting a result at Kingsholm.

"We played each other four times last season so both teams know each other very well. We know they have a very impressive set of forwards and great strength in depth. They have good half-backs, whoever plays on Saturday. They have the option of the running style of
Henry Paul or the kicking style of Ludovic Mercier and, out wide, some very dangerous backs.

"With Dean Ryan at Kingsholm, the forwards will be as strong as last season and Nigel Melvile will have given
the backs a new emphasis to their game."

Sharks squad:
Vaughan Going, Jason Robinson, Steve Hanley, Mark Cueto, Jos Baxendell, Dan Harris, Mel Deane, Charlie Hodgson, Nick Walshe, Bryan Redpath, Kevin Yates, Jim Thorp, Barrie Stewart, Andy Titterrell, Charl Marais, Scott Lines, Dean Schofield, Chris Jones, Stuart Pinkerton, Apollo Perelini, Pete Anglesea, Alex Sanderson.
