Henry Paul will today announce the latest and final stop on his remarkable journey through rugby when he joins Leeds Carnegie's bid to reclaim their place in the Guinness Premiership.

The 34-year-old former England fly-half will confirm another dramatic switch of codes when he appears at a Leeds press conference at Headingley this morning.

Leeds, who yesterday released 14 members of their squad following confirmation of their relegation to National League One, are expected to announce the signing of Paul on a two-year contract from next season.

New Zealand-born Paul, who is currently in his second stint in rugby league, is expected to see out his contract with Harlequins, which expires at the end of the engage Super League season in October.

The former Wigan and Bradford favourite believes he can extend his remarkable career with a final stint in the 15-man code and was thought to be considering a move to France.

Paul has come a long way since he started out with Wakefield at the age of 19 after impressing on the Junior Kiwis tour of England in 1993.

He went on to win every honour in the game during a three-year spell at Wigan and was a Lance Todd Trophy winner in three successful seasons playing alongside younger brother Robbie at Bradford.

Paul, who won 23 caps for New Zealand, switched codes in 2001 when he joined Gloucester in a deal part-funded by the Rugby Football Union and went on to play six times for England, for whom he qualified through a Liverpool-born grandfather.

He returned to league with Quins two years ago and has rolled back the years with a series of vintage displays this season.
