  • The Wallaby prop Al Baxter has revealed that contract talks with the ARU have broken down and that he is likely to leave for a European club if they can't be resolved. He's played 64 times for the Wallabies.

"Unfortunately, it has broken down with the ARU," Baxter told the Sydney Morning Herald. "We've come to an impasse. I have been getting a fair few offers from overseas in the past months, so I just said to [the ARU], 'If it has come to an impasse, I am going to have to negotiate overseas.' "They said, 'Yeah, go for it'. I'm hoping it doesn't come to that. Definitely, I would love to stay at the Wallabies and if I stay at the Wallabies, definitely I will stay at NSW."

Baxter's loss could be offset with the news that Hurricanes prop Tim Fairbrother is in talks to move to the Western Force. Fairbrother has of yet not been capped by the All Blacks and would be eligible for the Wallabies as soon as a proposed move took place.

  • Brumbies prop Guy Shepherdson has been cited for striking during his side's 32-31 win over the Bulls in Canberra. Sherpherdson was yellow-carded for striking an opponent with his knee during the game, but the citing official felt the incident may have warranted more than a sin-binning.

  • Leicester Tigers wing Alesana Tuilagi will appear before an independent disciplinary committee on Thursday April 23 after being cited for a dangerous tackle on Bath's Nick Abendanon during their Heineken Cup quarter-final at the Walkers Stadium last Saturday. Tuilagi has already received a one-week ban from the Tigers and will miss their Guinness Premiership game with Saracens at Vicarage Road this weekend.

  • London Irish lock James Hudson will leave the club at the end of the season to join Newcastle Falcons. Hudson joined the Exiles from Bath and head coach Toby Booth believes his exit presents an opportunity for the side.

"Our second row resources are among the best in the Guinness Premiership - Bob Casey, Nick Kennedy, Kieran Roche and Gary Johnson are viewed with respect by their peers," he said. "We now have an opportunity for someone to augment them and improve our tight five even further, and that's an exciting prospect."
