Leeds Carnegie's bid to reclaim a place in the English top flight continued with 49-18 thumping of Plymouth in their latest National League One encounter.

The Yorkshire-based side ran in seven tries to two with Jonny Hepworth, Joe Bedford, Hendre Fourie, Andy Boyde, Rhys Oakley, Scott Barrow and Leigh Hinton all touching down to catapult the league leaders to their 15th straight victory. Fly-half Jason Strange also weighed in with 14 points to help keep second placed Exeter at bay.

The Chiefs maintained the pressure on their title rivals with a narrow 34-29 victory away at the in-form Doncaster. John Andress, Clive Stuart-Smith, Matt Jess, Nic Sestaret and Paul McKenzie all crossed for the visitors to ensure the bonus point but they did not have it all their own way.

Andress was given his marching orders after the break for attempting to knee a Doncaster player following a fracas and the Knights subsequently rallied with Wez Davies grabbing a hat-trick of tries. Although unable to overhaul the Chiefs their reward for winning the second-half 17-0 was two bonus points.

Third placed Nottingham's clash with Coventry was a victim of the weather.

Elsewhere, Bedford capitalised on Doncaster's loss to leap-frog them in the table on the back of an 18-13 victory over Esher. The Black and Ambers' eighth loss in a row sees them slip nearer the danger zone.

At the bottom of the table there was more woe for Manchester who suffered their 15th straight defeat of the season at the hands of Moseley who registered a 48-7 victory at Billesley Common.

Fellow strugglers Otley were unable to build on their victory over Sedgely Park last weekend and went down 42-13 to Rotherham. In the weekend's other games, Cornish Pirates beat London Welsh 38-23 in their mid-table clash while Sedgley Park beat Newbury 42-37 in a high-scoring encounter at Park Lane.
