Profile

2009 was the season when Eastmond emerged as one of the Super League's hottest prospects. He started the year on the fringes of the St Helens side and ended it in the England team, appearing in all the Four Nations games.

His successful passage into Saints' first team always seemed inevitable after a successful career in the club's youth divisions. Eastmond appeared in academy finals in 2005 and 2006 and reserve team finals in 2007 and 2008.

The next year, Eastmond scored all of his side's points in the Super League XIV Grand Final defeat against Leeds Rhinos. After being handed the No 7 shirt at Saints for the 2010 season, the young scrum-half will replace the departed Sean Long in the side.

Career high: Selection for England in the 2009 Four Nations

Career low: Being on the losing side in the 2009 Grand Final despite scoring 10 points

Quote: Speaking about Eastmond, Saints' chief executive Tony Colquitt said: "Kyle has been with the club for a number of years and we know he has a massive future in the game.

Along with his finish to the season for ourselves, he was fantastic in the Four Nations and we are looking forward to him developing with the club."

Trivia: Eastmond is regularly compared to Australian international half-back Scott Prince
