Profile

Like so many great sports men and women, Wozniacki is the daughter of sporting parents. Her father, Piotr, played professional football in Poland and Denmark and her mother, Anna, played volleyball for Poland.

Her father's input was vital during her formative years and installed a level of discipline that has served the WTA's latest sensation well. When Wozniacki won her first international singles title in the 2004 Osaka Mayor's Cup in Japan at 14 years of age it was clear she was set for greatness. The Wimbledon Junior Championships title followed in 2006.

The young Dane turned professional at the end of 2007 and went onto win WTA Tour Singles Titles in Japan, New Haven and Stockholm in her first full season in 2008. In 2009 she added the Ponte Vedra Beach, Eastbourne and New Haven titles to an increasingly impressive list.

At the 2009 US Open, Wozniacki progressed past the fourth-round at a grand slam for the first time in her career. In an amazing tournament, the young right-hander made it to the final, where she eventually fell to an inspired Kim Clijsters.

Her tremendous performance at the US Open secured the Dane a place at the season-ending Sony Ericsson Championships in Doha, where she beat Vera Zvonareva and Victoria Azarenka in two dramatic three-setters en-route to the semi-finals.

In addition to this, Caroline was awarded with the accolade of 2008 Sony Ericsson WTA Tour Newcomer of the Year at the 2009 Sony Ericsson Open, and is the youngest female singles player ever to be ranked in the top 10 in the world.

Caroline started off the 2010 season in similarly confident fashion but slipped to a disappointing fourth-round exit at the Australian Open at the hands of Chinese player Na Li. Wozniacki got her season back on track with a final appearance at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. Despite her loss in the finals, the Dane climbed to a career-high ranking of No. 2 in the world and followed up this achievement by claiming a seventh career singles title with the successful defence of her title on the green clay of Ponte Vedra.

Career high: Winning seven career singles titles and reaching a grand slam final at the US Open all before the age of 20 represents a phenomenal achievement.

Career low: A meteoric rise to the top has not seen many low points but a nasty ankle injury, suffered as she played a back-hand volley at the net, forced Wozniacki to retire from her WTA Family Circle Cup semi-final with Vera Zvonareva. She left the court in tears.

Quote: "It just feels amazing that I can have an input and be involved in the clothes I wear. When you're looking good on court, you play better. I'm the only girl wearing it so it definitely brings me a little more attention."

Trivia: Wozniacki is the face of Stella McCartney's adidas sportswear range and regularly wears the designer's latest outfits on tour.
