A graduate from the fabled 2001 Great Britain & Ireland Walker Cup team that included the likes of Graeme McDowell, Luke Donald and Nick Dougherty, Hoey - who won the Amateur Championship that year - has carved out a reasonably successful professional career for himself but has yet to quite hit the heights many expected him to.
A three-time winner on the European Tour - at the 2009 Open de Portugal, the 2011 Madeira Open and 2012 Trophée Hassan II - Hoey seems to finally have found his feet in the paid ranks, after a number of years yo-yoing between the Challenge Tour and the big show.
