Arsene Wenger has revealed he is prepared to lose Samir Nasri on a free transfer next year rather than sell the midfielder this summer.

Nasri has 12 months left on his contract and has been heavily linked with a move away from Emirates Stadium - with Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City reportedly interested in the France international.

Nasri, who has refused to sign a new contract with Arsenal, could leave the Gunners for free next summer, but Wenger is loath to sell one of his key players to a Premier League title rival.

He is willing to risk losing the midfielder next summer in order to bolster Arsenal's title bid as they look to end six seasons without silverware.

"I'm willing to keep him for another year, even if it means we risk losing him for nothing in a year's time," Wenger said.

"I think the board agrees with me as it is a technical decision. Our goal is to win the championship and we need good players to do that."
