England dumped out by Dutch

England's hopes of reaching the final of the European Hockey Championships disintegrated as they fell 2-0 to Netherlands in Germany.
Carlien Dirkse van den Heuvel scored with an opportunistic tap-in to give the Dutch and early lead, and veteran Kim Lammers sealed the win for the reigning champions.
"I'm so disappointed. We didn't believe in ourselves or back ourselves. That's a nightmare," captain Kate Walsh said. "But better now than next year. We're still a young team and in big games like this, we have to look hard at ourselves."
England will hope to seal a consolatory bronze medal on Saturday, when they face Spain, who were beaten 2-1 by Germany in the second semi-final.
