Butt appeals prison sentence

Former Pakistan captain Salman Butt has appealed against his 30-month prison sentence for spot-fixing.

Butt was found guilty of conspiracy to accept corrupt payments and conspiracy to cheat, but his lawyer Yasin Patel has confirmed his client has appealed the sentence handed down at London's Southwark Crown Court last week.

Fast bowler Mohammad Asif was jailed for 12 month and Mohammad Amir for six for bowling no-balls at prearranged times during a Test against England last summer.

Agent Mazhar Majeed, who was secretly filmed by the News of the World accepting £150,000 was sent to prison for two years and eight months.
