Michael Bisping is officially one fight away from a title shot after UFC president Dana White announced that the Brit will fight Chael Sonnen at UFC on Fox 2, due to an injury to Mark Munoz.

Bisping had been set for a middleweight clash with Demian Maia on January 28, with Sonnen set to take on Munoz. However, those plans have been shelved.

An injury to Munoz has seen Bisping thrown into a straight eliminator with Sonnen, with the winner confirmed as the No. 1 contender to 185lb champion Anderson Silva.

White tweeted late on Tuesday: "Munoz is injured and out of the FOX fight! Now it's Chael Sonnen vs Mike Bisping Jan 28th and the winner will fight Anderson for the title."

For Bisping the fight resembles his second opportunity to book a title shot, after he lost to Dan Henderson in his most high profile bout to date. The Brit is in the form of his life, winning four on the spin.

Sonnen is gunning for a rematch with Silva after he lost to the Brazilian at UFC 117.
