After reaching the quarter-finals, Everton manager David Moyes admits his side are focusing on going on and doing their very best to win the competition. He said: "You just have to see what comes along but we are desperately trying to get to the final and win the final, that is the job.

"Everybody else is saying the same thing but for us we are trying to do everything we can to get there but that has been the same since our first day here."

Two goals in the first six minutes ended Blackpool's hopes, and Moyes noted: "It was great to get a good start and settle things down.

"They had opportunities, but we had six or seven great chances to put the game to bed and we didn't get the third goal and whilst it was 2-0 Blackpool kept pressing."

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway took a different view of the early stages, but conceded his team had been beaten by a better outfit. He said: "I can't believe the start we had, such a fundamental thing to let their centre-half have it and think you're solid, we drew our full-back out and it was played in behind him, such a schoolboy thing but such is life.

"I wanted to give a good show of what we have been doing and see where these lads are mentally and physically but we have just been beaten by a better team today.

"But we showed good character and came back into it later in the game, some teams might have capitulated but we hauled ourselves back in it, but they have a good team here and they were a team that is in form and looked good.

"We have got to move on and that is the level we have to get, not where we are."

Nigel Pearson paid tribute to goalscorer David Nugent after his Leicester City side knocked out Premier League Norwich City. He said: ''Nugent is so confident. He plays with a smile on his face. He is a very positive influence and his work-rate is exceptional. He is a very popular player in the team and today he showed the quality he has got.

''We played with a lot of discipline and desire and didn't make a lot of mistakes.''

He added: "This is still a very prestigious competition. When you get to the latter stages you start dreaming you can be successful.''

Pearson's opposite number Paul Lambert attempted to take the positives from the result, saying his side could focus on league matters. He noted: ''It will be a blessing in disguise if we stay in the league. No-one would pat us on the back if we got to the quarter-finals of the cup and got relegated.

''I don't think the FA Cup is a discredited competition. But I wouldn't have wanted to do well in the FA Cup and get relegated at the end of the season. I picked a team I thought would win and that's my fault.''

Bolton manager paid tribute to a pair of new faces as Bolton defeated Championship side Millwall at the New Den. He said: "''First and foremost I am a football fan and I want to be excited by some of the players I've got in my team, and Ryo Miyaichi certainly does that.

''In football terms he is a baby, a kid. I saw when Arsenal brought him in and then watched him on loan at Feyenoord last year, and he always caught my eye.

''I spoke to Arsene a few times about him and did everything I could to get him to the football club.''

He added: ''I know from both my playing and coaching days how difficult any cup tie can be. I've been an underdog many, many times. I think we started well. It probably took Millwall 15 or 20 minutes to get into the game, but when they did they had a few corners and a bit of pressure.

''We stood up to what was always going to be a difficult test. We defended well - Tim Ream had a terrific debut.''

Kenny Jackett was sanguine after the match: ''They have got a good ball retention about them and the first pass is always very safe and it is something we have to learn from.

''It was a good run in the FA Cup and we haven't disgraced ourselves today but we have to look forward very quickly now.''
