Jason Dufner grabbed his second PGA Tour title in as many months with victory at the Byron Nelson Championship on Sunday.

Dufner, who lifted the Zurich Classic trophy in April, holed a 25-footer for birdie at 18 to finish one stroke ahead of Dicky Pride. Dufner had a final-round 67 (three under) to move to 11 under overall.

With the win, Dufner has moved to the top of the FedEx Cup standings, displacing fellow American Hunter Mahan, with Masters champion Bubba Watson third.

Pride looked to have done enough to force a play-off when he conjured a remarkable par at 18 with a 23-foot putt, having found the water from the tee. But this was to be Dufner's day, despite bogeying holes two and three; he recovered with six priceless birdies.

Phil Mickelson went on the rampage at one point, with consecutive birdies between holes five and eight taking him within two shots of the lead (he started six behind), but he stalled on the back nine, bogeying the final two holes to scupper his chance of victory.

Still, it was a brilliant putting performance from Mickelson, which peaked with a 30-footer at the par-four eighth. He had 26 putts in all - and that includes a three-putt on the 17th - as he finished the tournament at six under.

"It was a fun day," Mickelson said. "The wind was calm and left the golf course susceptible to bridies. I got hot with the putter … made a good move. The last couple of holes were disappointing but it was still fun."

Padraig Harrington never threatened to make a charge on the final day, eventually signing for a 69 that left him four under, one stroke behind Vijay Singh and Jason Day. Keegan Bradley, last year's winner, was two under.

England's Brian Davis finished at three over, two shots worse than Ernie Els.
