The Badminton World Federation (BWF) have charged four women's doubles pairs for "not using one's best efforts to win a match" during the London Olympics.

A duo from China, two teams from South Korea and another from Indonesia caused a stir on Tuesday night as they appeared to deliberately play poor shots in order to manipulate the draw. The players, who were booed by the crowd at Wembley Arena, will now face a hearing on Wednesday.

A statement from the BWF said the players will face a charge of "conducting oneself in a manner that is clearly abusive or detrimental to the sport".

All four pairs had already qualified for the next phase of competition with the only thing at stake the final placings in the group stage, which determined their opponents in the final eight.
