Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly considering a move for Tottenham star Gareth Bale.

Spanish newspaper AS has reported that Real are extremely interested in the Welsh midfielder and that he is the club's top transfer priority, whilst the Mirror is reporting that Mourinho has met Madrid president Florentino Perez to push for a bid for Bale.

Bale, 23, recently signed a new long-term deal with the club, committing himself to Spurs until 2016, however Tottenham are preparing themselves for a fight to keep the Welshman.

Mourinho is desperate to add some much needed spark to his Real Madrid side after a disappointing start to the season which has seen them so far under deliver both in the Champions League and La Liga.

Real signed a partnership agreement with Spurs after buying Luka Modric from the club last summer and this relationship will be important if any deal is to be struck between the two clubs.

With a move for Bale expected to exceed £50 million, Mourinho would have to sell some of his current stars to fund the move, with Kaka and Mezut Ozil two of the names being mentioned as possibly leaving the Bernabeu.

Bale is currently on extended leave from Tottenham due to the birth of his first child last Saturday.
