Cleverly eyes breakthrough fight in USA

Nathan Cleverly is not concerned who he faces in his next fight, but is aware of the need to make a statement to the US boxing public.

Cleverly has been slated to face Ryan Coyne in Los Angeles but that bout is in doubt due to a wrangle between Don King, Coyne's former promoter, and Frank Warren, who promotes Cleverly.

Coyne's team are due in court at the start of November to argue their case and Cleverly is hopeful something can be agreed. Should the legal challenge fail the Welshman will need to find a fresh opponent and he wants to ensure it is a fight that will put him on the map as he attempts to make a name for himself on American soil.

"The 1st of November Ryan Coyne is in court with his promoter trying to get the fight to go ahead," unbeaten light-heavyweight Cleverly told Sky Sports News. "Hopefully it does, two unbeaten fighters I am sure it will be a great fight. But if not I am prepared for whoever is in the other corner. I really don't care who is in the ring with me on the night.

"This is the added pressure now. It is the next stage of my career, we are stepping up a level in the States where I am unknown. I have to make a name for myself, make a statement and take my career to the next level."
