Henning Berg has been appointed Blackburn Rovers manager after the club finally replaced Steve Kean after his sacking in September.

Berg was a Premier League title winner as a defender at Ewood Park and his status as a former player at the club was viewed favourably once a move for former Spurs boss Harry Redknapp fell through.

The 43-year-old, whose successful spell at Manchester United was sandwiched by two stints at Ewood Park, took Lyn Oslo to third in the Norwegian league in 2005 and has also managed Lillestrom.

He was part of Blackburn's title-winning team in 1995 and captained Rovers in their 2002 League Cup victory against Tottenham.
