West Ham United are investigating the signing of Savio Nsereko, according to the club's vice-chairman Karren Brady.

Nsereko, 23, was bought by West Ham for a fee reported to be £9 million in 2009, with the player arriving before current owners David Sullivan and David Gold completed their takeover of the club from the collapsed Icelandic bank Straumur.

Brady has outlined that the agreement with Brescia for the German forward, who went on to make just one Premier League start before leaving for Fiorentina in the same year, was struck under the previous board.

"Just before this board took over, the club paid a huge amount to Brescia for the German Under-21 who took part in a handful of matches and then departed for Fiorentina at a fraction of the price," Brady wrote in her column in the Sun. "The deal is something I'm investigating."
