Tony Bellew is keen to secure a world title fight against Chad Dawson after surviving a sizeable scare to defeat Roberto Bolonti on Saturday.

Bellew looked a class above his Argentinean opponent at the Nottingham Arena but had to box carefully to finish the 12 rounds, after sustaining a horrid cut above his right eye midway through the third round.

Bellew got through the difficulty to clinch a wide points decision, claiming the WBC silver light-heavyweight title in the process and setting himself up for a world title shot.

And Bellew, whose only professional defeat came against WBO light-heavyweight world champion Nathan Cleverly, is now eager to step up and take on Dawson for his strap.

"I'm on the tail of Chad Dawson and I've got no problem facing him," Bellew said. "I think he's the best in the world and I want to step up."
