Arsene Wenger reaffirmed his desire to bring in new players during the January transfer window, but insists he will only consider "exceptional" talent to bolster his squad.

Wenger has been linked with players such as Newcastle striker Demba Ba, as well as Manchester United winger Nani. It was also reported Klaas-Jan Huntelaar was a target for the Gunners before the Dutchman extended his deal with Bundesliga outfit Schalke last week.

Wenger is believed to have up to £30 million to spend on transfers next month, and the Frenchman says he will utilise those funds should the right players become available.

"We are in the market but only if we find players who will really strengthen us because we have a good squad. But if we find an exceptional player then we will take him.

"We lacked fluidity in our attacks against Wigan and continuity in our attacking play but we won because of our will to win. And, with the way things are now, I won't turn my nose up at that," he is quoted as saying in the English press.

Wenger will have more time for scouting over the festive season after Arsenal's clash with West Ham - scheduled for Boxing Day - was postponed.
