Froch vows to 'set the record straight' against Kessler

Carl Froch claims his "blood is boiling" ahead of his rematch with Mikkel Kessler at the 02 on May 25.

The pair will face off for the second time, after Kessler inflicted a first career defeat on Froch in 2010.

Froch and his promoter Eddie Hearn were alongside Kessler to confirm the finer details of the fight, which will be shown live on Sky Box Office, and the Cobra is looking to "set the record straight".

Kessler's victory in Denmark was narrow, and contentious, and Froch claims he still struggles to come to terms with the loss.

"It is difficult to put into words and rationalise what this fight means to me," Froch said. "I have fought nine or ten title fights back to back, but Mikkel Kessler is a proud man, a strong man - tough in any way. He has got everything: toughness, skill, desire, strength, guts, courage - all the things I've got and I have so much respect for him.

"But this man inflicted my first ever career defeat and it is a bitter pill to swallow. When my head hits the pillow at night, I still think about that loss. He took away my title, he took away everything that meant anything to me at the time.

"My professional career, I felt at the time, was in tatters. I won the title back in my next fight, I have had some epic battles with top fighters, but I have still not had the chance to avenge that defeat.

"This is a chance to set the record straight and come close to securing my legacy.

"It is difficult to put into context what this means to me. That loss still hurts and is painful, so to get the chance to right that wrong, we will make sure we do all we can to right the wrong.

"My blood is boiling; I am ready."

Froch will defend his IBF title, while Kessler's WBA strap will be on the line and Hearn has described the fight as the "biggest night's British boxing has seen in many years."
