Nadal: No decision made on Indian Wells

Rafael Nadal has insisted no decision has been made on whether he will skip the US spring hardcourt season.

A report in Marca on Tuesday claimed Nadal had taken the decision to skip the Masters events in Indian Wells and Miami in order to focus on the European clay-court season and the defence of his French Open title.

Nadal is on the comeback trail following seven months on the sidelines, but is still being plagued by a knee injury. Marca cited a desire to protect his left knee as the reason why he would not play on the hard courts, but he claims no decision has been made.

"My intention is to go to Indian Wells," Nadal said following his win over Diego Schwartzman in the first round of the Mexico Open. "My priority is to play there, but if I do not feel comfortable and I'm not okay, we must make a decision."

When asked to comment on the report in Marca, Nadal said: "The media cannot know more than me."

Asked about the state of his injury, Nadal said: "My priority today is to recover 100% and be able to compete and train to the full. If that happens the objectives are the same as they have always been.

"If I do not recover, I will take it in my stride, calmly accept it and be positive."
