Middleweight Hector Lombard wants to make a statement in the UFC by beating "crybaby" Michael Bisping in 2013.

Lombard, 35, is hoping to boost his standing within the UFC by beating Yushin Okami at UFC on Fuel 3 this weekend. Confident that a win against the Japanese will secure his future with the organisation after an uneven start, the Cuban-Australian is then targeting a statement victory over Bisping to take his career to the next level.

"I take it one fight at a time and focus on that," Lombard told the Telegraph. "That's what's in my control, the one thing in my control. I win this fight and then anything is possible.

"I want to fight Bisping badly, 100 per cent I do. That is the guy I want if I beat Okami.

"I'd fight him yesterday, today, it doesn't matter. I want to fight him."

Bisping, who recently lost what was effectively an eliminator to fight for the divisional title, is significantly higher in the UFC rankings than Lombard - but Lombard does not believe that holds any relevance.

Lombard suggested that Bisping has always come up short against the best fighters in MMA.

"I don't believe he should be where he is in the division," Lombard added. "Look at his record, who did he beat? He wins decisions, but against who? He gets beat when he fights top opponents. He gets decidedly beat, no decisions, he gets beat by KO.

"I'm not a cry baby like Bisping, I'm a man. It's one fight at a time, get this win and go from there. That is what I have to do. I don't need to bitch about rankings and people and fighters and bullcrap. I don't need to do the other stuff, that's not me.

"Bisping is a guy who is a f****** crybaby and no big wins."
