Hiddink cools Anzhi Torres bid talk

Anzhi Makhachkala boss Guus Hiddink has played down talk linking the ambitious Russian club with a bid for Chelsea striker Fernando Torres.

Spanish forward Torres has had a torrid time since making the move to Stamford Bridge and even the arrival of his former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has done little to revive his fortunes.

Torres has had the unwavering support of Stamford Bridge owner Roman Abramovich, but reports suggest he could be moved on in the summer.

It is being claimed Anzhi are one of the names being linked with a player who cost Chelsea £50 million.

Hiddink, who is preparing his side for the second leg of their Europa League clash with Newcastle, has described the rumours as 'interesting' but says there is nothing to report on the subject.

"It's interesting. With Anzhi it means that always 'oh the club has a lot of money, oh the club has a lot of prestige'," Hiddink said. "Everyone is linked who wants to make a move, or an agent who wants to make a move it's a game as journalists you know better, maybe not better or equal as coaches do.

"Players or agents sometimes have interests to be linked to other clubs or to get a better contract of their own or whatsoever, you know what will happen. As long as there is nothing official from our side I can assure you there is no single approach to any player at this moment."
