Arsenal seek final CL spot

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed the club are close to bolstering their attacking ranks with the signing of young Auxerre striker Yaya Sanogo.

Sanogo, 20, is on the verge of moving to the Premier League side on a free transfer this summer - after he rejected a new deal with the French second division team.

The tall striker has scored nine goals in 11 games in the league for the club this season, and is now close to making the switch to North London.

"It is in advanced stages but it is not done," Wenger said, when asked about the deal on Friday.

"I'm very confident. He is a young, promising striker who is a big talent."

Sanogo has represented France at Under-19 and U21 level. Prior to joing the Auxerre youth system, he started his career as a schoolboy for famed Paris club Les Ulis - where Gunners legend Thierry Henry also came through the ranks.
