Dzeko urged to consider Rome switch

Roma's Miralem Pjanic has urged his Bosnia and Herzegovina team-mate Edin Dzeko to end his frustrating time in the Premier League and join him in the Italian capital.

Since moving to the Etihad from Wolfsburg in 2011 for £28million Dzeko has been regularly linked with a move away from Manchester City, as he has struggled to establish himself as a first-team regular at the club.

Several Bundesliga and Serie A sides are reportedly keen on securing the services of the 27-year-old, who has started just one of City's Premier League matches since the end of September.

Ahead of Bosnia's World Cup debut next summer it is crucial Dzeko gets some playing time and Pjanic believes a solution to his problems could lie at the Stadio Olimpico.

"I'm in contact with him and I know he aspires to play more and feel more important [than now]," Pjanic told the Daily Mail.

"We hope he plays more. Here in Italy he would be very good. Of course, he belongs to Manchester City but I do not know how long for."

Dzeko did get a good run out in the 3-2 win over Bayern Munich on Tuesday, being replaced late on by Jack Rodwell.

In recent times he has been seen more as a super-sub, a role he dislikes, and is part of City's impressive strength in depth - which is one reason boss Manuel Pellegrini is reluctant to let the towering striker leave.

"I put my trust in him before the season and I have just as much trust in him now," he said.

"It is very important for this club to have a good squad because we have a lot of games to play from now until April and, if we want to win trophies, we need important players."
