Andy Murray will have three best men when he marries Kim Sears in April and admits he is more nervous about starting a family than his upcoming wedding.

The former Wimbledon and US Open champion has called on brother Jamie, best friend Ross Hutchins and Carlos Mier, a friend from his days at the Sanchez-Casal Academy in Barcelona, to share the honour.

Murray, who faces Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals of Indian Wells, is set to wed at his hotel, Cromlix House in Dunblane, on April 11.

Having served as best man for both his brother and Hutchins in the past, Murray decided he could not pick between the two.

"Kim has four bridesmaids and no maid of honour and I was saying, 'imagine you had to pick one of your four best friends you've had since you were at school'," Murray told BBC Sport.

"It is very, very difficult to choose one. She was like 'go on, pick one', but I said no."

Peruvian Mier, who shared a room with Murray during his formative years in Spain, may not make it to the wedding from his Singapore home.

"I didn't spend a lot of time with my brother when we were 15 to 20 really, because he was training in France and I was training in Spain," Murray added.

"Carlos, he was my best friend during that time, which were very important years in my life, when I moved away from my family and friends. He was the guy who was always there for me."

Murray and Sears have not yet decided on their honeymoon plans. The 27-year-old admitted that he felt no nerves about the prospect of marrying his girlfriend of almost 10 years, but the idea of children is a different matter.

"I kind of feel like we have been married already in terms of the way we spend our lives together and live together," Murray said. "I think I will be more nervous about starting a family because that would be more life-changing, in a good way."
