Bolton boss Owen Coyle has insisted he is under no pressure to sell the likes of Johan Elmander and Gary Cahill in the January transfer window in a bid to balance the books at the Reebok Stadium.

The Trotters revealed increased losses recently and it had been claimed that striker Elmander, who is in the final year of his contract, and defender Cahill could be hawked out to the highest bidder.

Coyle has admitted the club's financial results are not great, but he is looking to build his squad rather that allow it to be dismantled.

"Johan has been delivering," Coyle told Sky Sports News. "He came with a big price tag and that was not by accident. It is great his hard work and quality is being shown by the goals he is getting.

"Everyone is aware his contract expires at the end of the season, but we will continue the dialogue and I am very comfortable with the situation due to the relationship I have with Johan. We speak every day and he is within his rights to play it out any way he wants and I have no problem with that, but what I do know is that his manager believes in him and he is enjoying his football. We would love him to stay and in time we will see if that happens."

Coyle claims he has no regrets about leaving Burnley for Bolton and rather than cutting his cloth, is ready to invest in his squad in January.

He said: "We don't have to sell anybody in January. There has been speculation and that sort of thing because of the financial results, which were not great and we know that, but the majority of that debt is to one man and that is our owner Eddie Davies. I have had a chat with Eddie, as I do every week, and I am as comfortable today as I was when I came into the job.

"We don't need to sell anyone, I have been reassured that. And as it happens I am looking to strengthen. We don't have the greatest numbers. We have quality and I want to add to that. I want to add to Gary Cahill, Kevin Davies, Fabrice Muamba, the young ones like Stuart Holden, as I want to take the club forward."
