Dwain Chambers prodcued a fine run in Sao Paulo and admitted after clocking 10.01 seconds for the 100 metres that he is in the best shape of his career.

The British sprinter has been forced to travel the globe to make a living as he is persona non grata in European events on account of his drug conviction earlier in his career. As such, he travelled down to Brazil and scorched the track to post a stunning time which bodes well for the season ahead.

"I'm in the best shape of my career, mentally and physically," Chambers said. "I've worked very hard on a number of shortcomings over the winter and that's been reflected in my performances."

While Chambers was in fine form in Brazil, the rain and wind that greeted the athletes in Loughborough was not to Jessica Ennis' liking.

Ennis, gearing up for the heptathlon at the World Championships, described conditions as "horrendous" after throwing just 44.49m in the javelin and topping just 1.86m in the high jump.

Jodie Williams and Perri Shakes-Drayton were winners in the 300m and 400m respectively, while Joice Maduaka edged out Jeanette Kwakye, a former world indoor silver medallist over 60m, in the 200m.
