Tiger faces Open fitness race

Tiger Woods is a major doubt for The Open after withdrawing from next week's AT&T National.
The 14-time major champion has not played since May, completing just nine holes at The Players before retiring with injuries to his left knee and Achilles.
Woods confirmed on his official website that he would not play at Aronimink next week, and now faces a race against time to be fit for the third major of the year, which starts on July 14 at Royal St George's in Kent.
Despite the injury, Woods revealed he would be in Philadelphia to support the tournament, which benefits the Tiger Woods Foundation. The former world No. 1 believes he is making progress in his bid to shake off the injury, but is still not 100 per cent.
"I'm disappointed I won't be able to play in this year's AT&T National, but I'm listening to my doctors and allowing time to completely heal," Woods said. "I am looking forward to being in Philadelphia to support the event. The Philly fans are always amazing, and I really enjoy supporting my foundation and celebrating our troops."
