Sale got their Challenge Cup campaign back on track with a 29-20 win over Pau at the AJ Bell Stadium on Saturday.

They fell to a heavy 30-12 defeat to the Dragons in the opening round but secured the bonus point-win against the Top 14 side with Joe Ford putting in a commanding performance at fly-half. He finished the game with nine points - three conversions and a penalty - while Sale's tries came from Brian Mujati, Mark Jennings, Sam James and Jonathan Mills.

Pau stayed within touching distance until Mills' 77th minute score with Thibault Daubagna knocking over 10 points with Daniel Ramsay and Quentin Lespiaucq crossing.

In Pool 2, Zebre saw off Worcester 27-8 at the Sergio Lanfranchi Stadium with Carla Canna slotting 17 points. The Italians were in control for the entire game with Worcester's points coming from a Ryan Lamb penalty and a late consolation try from Dean Hammond.

The Italians started well, scoring two tries in the first 15 minutes, and kept their hold on the game for the rest of the match. Marcello Violi scored after just four minutes with Tommaso Bori crossing in the 14th minute.
