Profile

France scrum-half Julien Dupuy played for Biarritz in the French Top 14 for seven seasons before joining Leicester Tigers in 2008.

For much of the 2009 season Dupuy kept England and British & Irish Lions' scrum-half Harry Ellis on the bench and was selected ahead of the Englishman for the Heineken Cup final defeat to Leinster.

Dupuy's personal highlight playing for the Tigers came against bath in the Heineken Cup quarter-final at the Walkers Stadium in 2009. He rolled out of a ruck and hared away through the Bath defence, stepping Joe Maddock and scoring under the sticks for a dramatic win for the Tigers.

Despite a successful season with Leicester - which saw his side crowned Premiership champions - Dupuy went back to France because his girlfriend became unhappy with life in England. He joined colourful Parisian side Stade Francais.

He made his France debut against the All Blacks in Dunedin in 2009 as Les Bleus won the first Test. He continued to hold down a first-team place at international level through France's November Tests, including a victory over Tri-Nations champions South Africa, and also returned to the Heineken Cup with a bang as his seven penalties helped Stade to a dramatic group win over Bath.

Dupuy was handed a six-month ban in December 2009 for "making contact with the eyes" of Ulster flanker Stephen Ferris during a Heineken Cup Pool match, ruling him out of the Six Nations.
