Italy have called up prop Michele Rizzo for the 2012 Six Nations.

Rizzo has spent just under four years in the international wilderness as he last turned out for Italy back in 2008 while on their summer tour of South Africa. But he has been added to Jacques Brunel's squad for the forthcoming Six Nations.

Fellow front-row Aironi's Alberto De Marchi injured his calf at the weekend against Leicester Tigers and faces an anxious wait to determine the extent of the injury. Rizzo has played 12 times for Italy A and will train with the squad ahead of their opener against France in the Stade de France on February 4.
