Heineken Cup champions Toulon will start their European Rugby Champions Cup campaign at home against the Scarlets.

In the inaugural season of the re-jigged European tournament Toulon - who have been paired with Leicester and Ulster, who start against each other at Welford Road the previous day - will welcome the Scarlets on October 19.

It will be the final game of a remarkable opening round of rugby which starts on October 17 where Harlequins welcome Castres to the Twickenham Stoop. The other match in Pool 2 precedes Toulon's on Sunday with Leinster hosting Wasps in Dublin.

Come Saturday, Sale Sharks begin their campaign at home against Munster at 13.45 with perhaps the most eye-catching of all the opening round fixtures kicking off soon after as their fellow Pool 1 sides Saracens host Clermont. In Glasgow, at the same time as Saracens' game, the Warriors will be playing Bath in Pool 4.

The final match on Saturday is in Paris with Racing Metro welcoming Northampton Saints and on Sunday the focus switches to Wales with the Ospreys welcoming Treviso to Swansea and Toulouse then playing Montpellier.
