Tournament organisers European Professional Club Rugby said an independent disciplinary committee had decided to impose a €10,000 (£7,700) fine following Jacob Cowley's inclusion in Scarlets' 23 for the Champions Cup pool match against Racing 92 last month. EPCR had brought a misconduct complaint against the Scarlets. Although Cowley took no part in the game and the committee accepted that he was named as a replacement in error by the Scarlets, it was determined that they had breached tournament rules by naming a non EPCR-registered player. The fine becomes payable if the Scarlets are found to have committed any further EPCR tournament rule breaches between now and May 31, 2018. © PA Sport
