  • The Ospreys have been boosted by the news that Jerry Collins should recover from a head injury in time for next week's Magners League Grand Final against Leinster.

The former All Black took a heavy blow to his head in the semi-final win over Glasgow Warriors at the Liberty Stadium, but coach Sean Holley has eased concerns he might miss the clash at the RDS. Collins won the Swansea based side's Players' Player of the Year award this week and will be crucial to their efforts next week.

"I'm no medical expert, but I do know he's a tough individual," Holley said. "I think he'll be OK for next week and that's the most important thing."

  • Munster centre Lifeimi Mafi will miss the opening games of the 2010/2011 season as he recovers from a shoulder operation.

The 28 year-old New Zealander had the operation last Tuesday for an injury that has been troubling him throughout the season and will use the closed season to have the problem sorted out.

Munster also confirmed that Denis Leamy (knee), Donnacha Ryan (shoulder), Darragh Hurley (eye), Felix Jones (neck) and Barry Murphy (leg) all expected to be fully fit and available for the opening pre-season games against Leicester Tigers on August 20.

  • Alex Grove looks set to join Edinburgh on a year long loan deal in order to boost his World Cup chances.

Relegated Worcester have confirmed they are in talks with Andy Robinson and the SRU over the 22 year-old and while his long term future remains at Sixways, they are willing to consider allowing him go join Edinburgh for a year.

A Warriors statement read, ""Worcester Warriors can confirm it is in discussion with the SRU and Scotland head coach Andy Robinson. Alex's long-term future remains with Worcester Warriors. His attitude off the pitch and ability on it makes him an important part of our future. Alex has spoken to the chairman to reiterate his long-term commitment and desire to extend his contract at Sixways in the near future."

  • Jamie Heaslip has been named Leinster player of the year after a thundering season.

The No.8 has grown in influence this season and was a key performer in all of the 18 matches he has played in this season. Heaslip said, "It is a huge honour to receive this award. I don't think I've ever received an award of this stature before on an individual basis and I wouldn't like to take too much credit because I couldn't have achieved this without my team-mates and coaches."

  • Chris Henry has capped a fine season with a hat-trick of awards at Ulster's post season ceremony.

The uncapped No.8 was selected in Ireland's summer tour squad on the back of his club form which earned him the Personality of the Year as well as the writers and supporters player of the year gongs. Legendary fly-half Jack Kyle was inducted to the Ulster Hall of Fame.
